How can I buy the software?

You can send us a request quote via the DataLink web site, and then we will contact you, confirm the quote and then send you an invoice. When we receive your payment we will send you an email with attached file or a web link to download the software and Installation guide.

How can I pay for the software?

We accept cheques and bank transfer. Please contact our sales team and they will give you all necessary details.

Does the connector’s price include VAT?

No, it doesn’t. But we will calculate the price with VAT accordingly to the EC trading rules. So if you are registered for VAT please give us your VAT ID for properly invoicing. Customers from outside the EC are not eligible for VAT.

Which Ecommerce solutions does the WebDataLink integrate with?

Our connector integrates with osCommerce, ZenCart, X-Cart, Cube Cart, AspDotNetStorefront.

Our online store is a modified CRELoaded 6.2 pro. Does your Sage connector have a problem with that?

No, it doesn’t. Our Sage connector works just fine with CRE Loaded Pro. Basically, anything based on osCommerce will do. And not only osCommerce - we are adding more Ecommerce solutions to our software right these days.

Which versions of Sage the connector can work with?

DataLink osCommerce Connector will work with the 'Accountant', 'Accountant Plus', and 'Financial Controller' versions of Sage 50 Accounts (versions 10, 11, 12, 13, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011).

What is the connector installation?

The DataLink osCommerce Connector for Sage consists of two parts. The web part is pre installed to the osCommerce web site by DataLink UK team. The offline part you can install yourself.

Can I install the web part of connector myself?

Yes, you can do it. Please contact our team for special instructions.

Can the connector work through local network?

Unfortunately, we don’t provide such facility. The DataLink osCommerce connector must be installed onto the same computer as Sage 50 Accounts.

Where is the Sage database located?

The default database location is folder Sage/Accounts/, and default location for Sage software is the Program Files folder on your hard drive.

Can DataLink handle large volumes of data?

Yes, it’s quite fast. Our software can import more than a thousand orders per day.

Can I choose what I want to export from Sage to my webshop?

Yes, we can make it dependant on certain settings in the Options screen. You can refer to the installation guide supplied with the software.

What if I want to only send 100 out of 10,000 products for an update?

We can make it dependant on certain flag settings in the Options screen.

What can I download from the webshop to Sage?

Orders, customer records, and products.

Can I deal with multiple webshops?

Yes, we can connect one Sage database with multiple web shops. But please note that accordingly to SEO guidelines it’s not recommended to have one and the same product description on several web sites. So we could recommend you using different description fields in Sage, each of one of the shops. Let us know how many shops you'd like to connect to one Sage database, and we will provide you with a corresponding solution.

I don’t want to synchronise all orders from my online store but only the new ones. What should I do?

The connector has an option “Synchronise orders starting from” on the osCommerce Options screen. You can enter the order ID and synchronisation will start from that order.

What is the Test connection button for?

The Test connection button is to check the connector’s settings. When you configure your osCommerce or Sage options you must be sure if the connector can access your web site and database properly.

With “Sage is master” option checked the Product Price, Name, Description, Image and Category fields in Sage will remain unchanged even if changed on the website. With this option unchecked it works in the contrary way, and this product data remains unchanged on the website even if changed in Sage. Please note that stock levels are always taken from Sage. It makes sense to disable stock subtraction feature on the website.

I’ve seen a “SOP” and “Invoice” checkboxes on the Sage details window. What are they for?

When the “SOP” option is checked all online orders will be downloaded as Sales Orders. And if the “Invoice” option is checked all online orders will be downloaded as Invoices.

I’ve seen a “Set SOP completed” and “Set Invoice Posted” checkboxes. What are they for?

If you tick the Set SOP completed checkbox, then all SOPs downloaded into Sage 50 Accounts will be marked as Completed. If you tick the “Set Invoice Posted” checkbox, all invoices downloaded into Sage 50 Accounts will be marked as Posted.

If Sage connector has damaged my Sage database what should I do?

It never happens if your Sage connector’s options and settings were set up properly. Please see our DataLink Sage Connector User Guide for more details. Also we strongly recommend all our customers to backup their databases regularly.

How can I see the synchronisation progress?

Please pay attention to connector’s tray icon and hint - if synchronisation process is still going it will blink and the hint will show you what is exactly happening now.

I’ve tried to synchronise my customers, but when I go to Sage customers list no new records are there. What should I do?

It may happen because Sage doesn’t refresh it's data automatically. Press the Search button in the top right corner of the window to refresh the list.

I’ve tried to synchronise my data with Sage connector but nothing happens. What should I do?

If you are under a firewall or any antivirus software is installed on your computer it can block DataLink osCommerce connector. Please check your firewall or antivirus software options and add the connector into the Exceptions list.

Will the connector create new customers automatically in Sage when it downloads orders?

Yes, it will create customer records automatically in Sage, or link orders to the existing customer records.

I have orders that often contain items with VAT and items that are zero VAT rated. Will the connector deal with these mixed orders correctly?

Yes, it will recognize such orders correctly if you have tax classes and tax rates set up in osCommerce properly.

What happens if halfway through the download I lose my internet connection? Does it check for orders not to be duplicated?

Yes, it checks for orders not to be duplicated. It won’t create one more order if it has been already imported. It uses the Our Ref. field to store web shop's order ID and checks this field.

Is the transfer line secure against hackers?

Yes. First of all, we recommend it to be SSL (HTTPS) protected. Then, we encrypt the data on the site and decrypt it again already in the connector software.

What happens if a product that you are downloading does not exist in Sage?

We create it in Sage using the information we receive from the shop (model number, product name, product description, and price).

After the orders are downloaded to Sage how are they confirmed on the webshop?

Our connector software uploads the list of successfully imported orders back to the web shop. We can implement a special feature that will be changing order status in the shop as soon as the order has been imported into Sage free of charge.

Is there a way to create a range of customized fields and user groups in the contact card so you can categorise those customers who buy online from you?

It's better to implement similar functionality in the Ecommerce solution since it would allow for more flexibility.

Is there an activity created when the order is made so you can quickly identify new orders?

Yes. A notification message appears for about 30 seconds; also we can play a sound file.

Do I get an email when new orders have arrived?

Usually not since there's a facility to receive order notification emails sent by the web shop.

Can you customize the activity that’s been created in Sage?

We can not customize Sage's behaviour, but Sage will be probably releasing some new versions of their API next year that may support this feature.

Which tax code the connector use for online orders? Can I set the tax code myself?

The connector has a Tax management section on the Sage Details window. By default the connector uses T1 code and 17.5% rate, but you can set up any other tax codes and rates there.

I’d like all downloaded online orders belong to the same customer’s account. Is it possible?

Yes, it’s possible. You should go to Sage Details window (Options menu) and then to the Tax management section. There is a “Def A/C ref” field where you can set up a customer’s account code (exactly as it is in the Sage database).

What kind of customer support / help with installation do you offer?

We ensure the system works fine once it’s set up. If there's any problem or issue in the future - you are welcome to come to us for assistance, we do not charge for this. If there's something extra you'd like to order, you're welcome to send us your requirements and we will come up with an estimate.

What is the support if I have a problem with DataLink to Sage database?

If you have any problem or question - you are always welcome to send us an email or call us. Of course the preferred option is to post a ticket into our special Support solution. Usually your ticket will be professionally processed and answered within the next 12 business hours. If any urgent action is required - you are welcome to give us a call and we will see how exactly we can help you.

I’ve upgraded my Sage to a new version. Will the connector work properly?

We participate in the Sage Developers Program and are always in touch with any updates and new versions. We will release new versions of the connectors and give them to our customers. You don’t need to pay for it because your monthly support fee includes such situations.
